Johnie L. Burton Dead
Johnie L. Burton died at his home in Sturgeon, on Sunday night, November 24, 1929. He was born in Sturgeon on April 16, 1913. Son of Mrs. Dora Burton. His father the T.F. Burton, passed away several years ago. Johnie had been sick for several months and had been an invalid since he was ten years of age. Funeral services were conducted at the Sturgeon Baptist church on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 conducted by Rev. Seyfarth and burial in the Perseverance cemetery (Lick Fork Cemetery) west of Sturgeon. Johnie was a manly young man and bore his afflictions of being a cripple with much patience and fortitude and will be greatly missed by his mother, brothers and sisters, who gave him every affection. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Dora Burton, two sisters, Mrs. Lera Burton, and Mrs. Myrle Mobley, of Moberly, and one half-sister, Mrs. William Meaks (Mead) of near Sturgeon, and two brothers, Edgar Burton of Moberly and Howard Burton of the home. The Leader extends sympathy to the bereaved family.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral of Johnie Burton, held at the Baptist church in Sturgeon on Tuesday afternoon were: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Capps and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fleming, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Robinson and family, Mrs. Joe Kellogg, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Mobley, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Fleming of Moberly, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Cook and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cook, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Parks and family, of Clark, Misses Helen and Frances Geer, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Meed of Centralia.

John L. "Johnnie" Burton, was the son of Thomas Franklin & Dora Frances Robinson Burton. John's cause of death is listed as Pulmonary Tuberculosis, he was 16 yrs, 07 mos, 08 ds old at the time of his death. Dora Burton, of Sturgeon, Mo., was listed as the informant on Missouri Death Certificate #36338. Burial took place on 26 Nov 1929.
