On October 7, 1890, John was united in marriage to Adelheidt Nimerfro in St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Fulda. John was a successful farmer and remained on the farm until eight years ago when he retired and purchased the home in Fulda where he has since resided. He was a devout member of the Catholic church. He was a splendid neighbor, a kind and loving husband and father, and these qualities made him a citizen of the highest type, and one whose loss will be keenly felt.
John's health had begun to fail in the spring and he especially noticed it in his eyesight and inability to remember as he had before that time. When he consulted doctors about 10 weeks ago, he went to Mankato for treatments at the hospital there. During the early days of his illness he suffered a slight stroke which affected his speech, and a later stroke confined him continually to his bed. He grew gradually weaker until the end came Sunday night. John passed away at his home in Fulda.
Of a cheerful disposition, John will be greatly missed in his family and among his friends. John was one of nine children, three of whom died in early childhood. Four brothers grew to manhood, Frank, who died in Fulda a few years ago, and Ferdinand, who passed away in Wisconsin, leaving Adolf, of Fulda, the only surviving brother. Of the sisters, Anna (Vincent) Meixner is deceased, and the only living sister is Theresa Rich of Los Angelos, CA.
John & Ella were the parents of John (Ruth) Ramerth, Fred "Fritz" (Esther) Ramerth, Alex (Josephine) Ramerth, James (Mabel) Ramerth, Minnie (Arthur H.) Riedel, Elizabeth (Louis) Hussong, Florence (James C.) Hollingsworth & Evelyn (Edward F.) Hocker. A daughter, Margaret (Guido) Appel, passed away Dec. 1, 1926.
Funeral services were held from St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Father J. Meyers officiating.
