They were the parents of three children.
Mrs. Bertha Vanlandingham Thrift, 76, of Village, died Tuesday evening, January 11, 2000 at Rappahannock General Hospital, Kilmarnock, Virginia. The daughter of Asa and Nannie Vanlandingham,, she was born in Hyacinth. She and her late husband, Edison, were long-standing members of Bethany Baptist Church, Callao.
Surviving are one son, Thomas "Tommy" Edison Thrift and his wife, Mary, of Mechanicsville, Va.; two daughters, Glenda Reed Harding and husband Steve of Virginia Beach, and Donna Rae Thrift of Richmond; sister, Evelyn V. Parks and her husband Bill, of Knoxville, Tenn.; two grandchildren; brother -in -law, Reuben Thrift and his wife, Doris, of Village; a sister-in-law, Frances Sydnor of Kinsale; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thrift was predeceased by her husband, Howard Edison Thrift; a brother, and step-brother, Lawson and Zeff Vanlandingham; a sister and step-sister, Iva V. Nicolai and Ora "Coe" Williams.
Services were held January 15, at Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Rainswood, with the Reverends Kevin Moen and Curtis Hawks officiating. Interment was in Gibeon Baptist Church Cemetery, Village.
Pallbearers were Gary Parks, Brian Thrift, Reiben Thrift, Jr., David Thrift, Gregory Thrift. Steve Harding, Jimmy Vanlandingham and David Vanlandingham.
