NELDA MODENIA BRADY ADAMS, 71, of Duncan, Okla., claimed her mansion with God on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, in Duncan.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, in Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, with Robert Teague and Jerry Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Nelda was born March 6, 1937, in Duncan, to William "Bill" and Jimmie McCain Brady. Her life here on earth was full but short.
She was a longtime active member of Elk Avenue Church of Christ. She was employed for 30 years as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Post office, retiring in 1996.
On Dec. 26, 1953, Nelda married William "Bill" Adams in Henrietta, Texas, making their home in Duncan for more than 50 years. She was an avid seamstress, spending time on quilting, needlepoint and crocheting. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, William F. "Bill" Adams of the home; a daughter, Jo Ann Solomon of Comanche; two sons, Garry Dale Adams and wife Cindy of Duncan, and Larry Gail Adams of Comanche; three sisters, Wanda Wellman and husband Buddy of Madill, Billie Smart and husband Wendy of Amarillo, Texas, and Barbara Brittain of Beaumont, Texas; two brothers, Buddy Brady and wife Mary of Amarillo, and Jimmy Brady and wife Barbara of Cameron, Texas; eight grandchildren, Amanda Standridge and husband Bobby, Lacy Torrez and husband Michael, Linda Galvan, Sandra Kraus and husband J.R., all of Duncan, Tonya Galvan of Sherman, Texas, Roy Adams of Austin, Texas, Jennifer Adams of Tishomingo, Crystal Solomon of Comanche; nine great-grand-children, Kayleigh, Madison, Evan and Amon Torrez, Jaiden and Jeffrey Standridge, Clayton and Chase Kraus, and Kendylle Galvan; four brothers-in-law, Russell Adams and wife Ruth of El Reno, Ernest Adams and wife Treva of Duncan, Glendan Adams and wife Judy of Crane, Mo., and Leslie Adams and wife DeeAnna of Ft. Worth, Texas; a sister-in-law, Mary Duvall and husband Odes of Duncan; along with many nieces and nephews.
Nelda was preceded in death by her parents.
Bearers will be Geary Heilman, Gary Melton, Keith Gibbs, Ken Gray, Phil Britton and Bob Leverett.
