John W. Smyres, 91, a life resident of Wabash County, died in the Wabash County Hospital. Death was due to heart disease and complications.
Mr. Smyres was born in Wabash County on Jan. 30, 1862, to Lewis and Amy (Brown) Smyres and was united in marriage on Oct. 10, 1888 to Lillie Shipley. Mrs. Smyres died in Jan. 1939.
He was a member of the Asbury Methodist Church.
Survivors include on daughter, Mrs. Garl Williams, Wabash RR 4; one son, Floyd Smyres, North Manchester; 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. One daughter, Lucille Cleveland, and several brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held in the Wire Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Bachert officiating. Friends were asked to omit flowers.
