David O. Herr, age 81, of West Salem and formerly of Greenwich, died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Autumnwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Rittman, Ohio. He was born December 30, 1927 in Sharon, Pennsylvania, son of the late Carl E. and Jennie Ellen (Hoole) Herr. He attended Purdue University and graduated from Penn State University with an Agronomy Degree. David had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had been a supervisor in the agricultural industry. David enjoyed helping others whenever the opportunity arose. He is survived by 2 sisters, Mary Hammond of Erie, Pennsylvania and Esther Sassone of Butler, Pennsylvania; He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Webb-Herr in 2002.

Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. Burial will follow at Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery.
