Gold Star Mother of American Legion Auxiliary Succumbs Suddenly

Mrs. Louin Bolin, 69, died at her home on West Street Tuesday night at 10 o'clock of a heart attack. Her death was unexpected as she had done her usual house work that day and did some canning. Along in the afternoon she complained of a pain in her arm, which became fatal.
Mrs. Bolin was born in Moniteau county near Lupus September 8, 1873. Her parents were Abner and Susan Brizendine. About fifty-two years ago she married, Lafayette Bolin, a young farmer of the same community. They lived on a farm in the north part of the county until about 25 years ago when they moved to California and bought the home where Mrs. Bolin died.
They were the parents of seven sons and a daughter. One son died in infancy; Jesse was wounded and died in a hospital in France during the World War No. 1. The others surviving are Harry, Brownie, Charlie, Clifford and Freddie and Mrs. Sylvia Pennington all of California, Mo. Freddie and Clifford live on West street near the home of their mother. There are 24 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a brother, Mally Brizendine, Colorado Springs, Colo. Three of her grandsons are in the Armed forces, Walter Bolin in North Africa, Brownie Lee Bolin, South Carolina and Raymond Bolin at the Naval Air Base, Corpus Christi, Texas.
Mrs. Bolin had been a member of the Baptist church since her youth and was interested in all branches of the activities of the California Baptist church.
She was the only surviving Gold Star Mother of the American Legion Auxiliary in California. She was to be guest of honor at a picnic of the Auxiliary tonight.
Mrs. Bolin was well known in California for her kind and loving attitude to her friends and neighbors.
The body lies in state at the Bowlin Funeral Parlors. It will lie in state at the California Baptist church from 1:00 o'clock until the hour of the funeral at 2:00 Friday afternoon. The Rev. A. B. Constantz, pastor, will officiate.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Franklin, Jewel, Dorsey and Howard Bolin, Nicholas Clenin and Truman Pennington. Flower bearers will be granddaughters, Bonnie, Edna, Shirley, Martha Ann, Alice and Mary Bolin and Trella Clenin.
Burial will be in the City cemetery beside her husband, who died 21 years ago, and her son whose body was brought from France.
