Rhoda Ethel Davis, 62, died Thursday, May 15, at her home, 451 East Poplar street, following a heart attack.

She was born on June 9,1888, near Lamar, Ks. to John and Mary C. (Baxley) Bain.

Rhoda married Andrew E. Davis on Oct. 30, 1912 at Minneapolis, Ottawa County, Ks. For a short time they lived in Marshall County, moving in 1928 to Johnson County. They lived on a farm south of DeSoto, moving to Olathe in 1931 where she had lived until her death. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Lamar. For several years she was employed at the Kansas State School for the Deaf and the Olathe Hotel.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Verla Lueck, and a son, Dean Davis, both of Olathe, two sisters; Mrs. Bessie Cline, Bennington; and Mrs. Deall Warren, Delphos; also eight grandchildren. Another son, Vance Davis was lost at sea in 1944 while serving aboard the submarine, the USS Grayback in Japan, Mem. #56128386.

Rhoda and Andrew were divorced Feb 17, 1941 in Olathe, Johnson County, Ks.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock, Saturday afternoon, at the Frye Chapel in Olathe, conducted by the Rev. Owen W. Prince, pastor of the First Methodist church. Funeral services were also held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon May 20, at the Lamar Methodist church, Lamar, conducted by the Rev. Edward Angel. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery at Lamar. W.L. Frye & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
