Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Pentecostal Holiness
Church for Mrs. Eller Jeanetta Owens, 85. Mrs. Owens died Wednesday morning,
April 5, 1972, in Muskogee General Hospital.
Officiating at the services were Reverend Melvin Garrison and Reverend Richard
Ham. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery with Hersman Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Owens was born July 15, 1886 in Germantown, Alabama. She came to Oklahoma
at an early age, moving to Cherokee County and then to Wagoner in 1923. She was
a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include her husband, Newt A. Owens, of the home; a daughter, Mrs.
Alliene Nicholas of Wagoner; three sons, Ernest, E. M. and Roy, all of Wagoner;
four sisters, Josie McHenry of Bakersfield, California, Tennie Brown of Buffalo,
Oklahoma, Lucy Roland of Merced California and Dora Tyler of Connecticut; three
brothers, Jim Miller of Harrison, Arkansas, Curtis Miller of Mesa, Arizona and
W. C. Miller of Evil Creek, Oregon.
Pallbearers were Ronald Nicholas, Roy Dwayne Owens, Kenneth Owens, Floyd Owens,
Alvin Owens and David Owens.
