Son of Samuel S. and Rachel (Smith) Clark.
Husband of Matilda Augusta (Mellon) Clark.
Father of Charles Henry and William Edward Clark.

On his gravestone, he is listed as C. Madison Clark.

Grew up on his father's farm in Wilawana, Pennsylvania. He does not show up in the 1860 Census. Some time between then and 1866, he ventured to Detroit and married Matilda Augusta Mellon. She was a daughter of the late Captain Charles Mellon, who was killed in an 1837 attack by the Seminole Indians in what was to become Mellonville, Florida. Circa 1890, Mellonville was absorbed into present-day Sanford.

In 1866, C. Madison's first son, Charles Henry, was born. On Charles H.'s death certificate, it is indicated he was born in Wilawana. In a 1868 map of Wilawana, C. Madison is shown as living near his father's residence. In 1870, it is shown that he had relocated a few miles west and was a farmer in Ridgebury Township. In 1880, he is shown at the same location.

In 1891, an article about his father indicated he was living in Auburn, NY, with his oldest son's family.

In 1900, the census shows C. Madison as a widower living with his sister Amanda and her husband, M.E. Knight in Wilawana in their late father's farmhouse, which Amanda had inherited. Charles' occupation is listed as part-time carpenter. His date of birth was listed as February 1833. We have not been able to find any record which lists his exact dob.

His death certificate shows he died of senility in a hospital in Newark, New Jersey, where his oldest son, Charles Henry, was residing.
