No photo, but I know what he looked like in 1906 (from the Bath Soldiers' Home Records):
In 1906, my great grandfather, Tom Bass, aged 66, was 5'9" tall. He was of light complexion, had grey eyes (somewhat of a surprise), and grey hair. He could not read or write. His occupation at the time of his entrance into the Soldiers' Home was 'coachman.' [I know from one other record that, in his later years, he was an 'hostler'-- that is to say, a groom.] He entered the Soldier's Home in Bath, New York the year following his wife's death and died there, 14 years later, in July of 1920. His pension was $10 a month, which he turned over to the Home.
