He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Estelline. He was on the Grange Township Board, Estelline Hospital Board and church boards. He enjoyed farming plus playing city baseball and visiting with friends.
Verner is survived by his wife Margaret of Estelline; three sons, Gary and his wife Cindy of Battle Creek, IA, David and his wife Marceen and Jeff and his wife Lorry, all of Estelline; seven grandchildren; four step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; two sisters, Stella Moberg of Arlington, SD and Betty Christianson of Bryant, SD; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, one brother and one daughter, Jeannette Nystrom
