Matilda Katherine at Rest
DIED; Mrs. M. K. Barnett aged 51 years 2 months 22 days. Mrs. Barnett was born in Logan County Illinois May, 9 1848 and died in Grant Co. Oklahoma, July 31, 1899; was united in marriage to Robert F Barnett Oct 25, 1868. They moved to Kansas in 1872 and there resided until April1874 when they came to Grant Oklahoma. The fertility of their union records three births, two sons and one daughter all grown.
The deceased leaves two brothers, one living near Gueda Springs, Kansas, the other at Kenney, Illinois. Mrs. Barnett had been to suffer for six months of that dread disease, heart trouble until last Monday morning a 1:30 oclock when, releasing her of her sufferings and placing them upon the dear ones at her bed side, death slowly but surely sought his claim upon the precious day.
Eulogy
And as we read the awful text and in the haze and silence of that house, tell what words can never tell, our very souls gave way and we were forced to say there is no justice save in prompting all alike. But a mightier voice than ours is councel for the dead. And while we shall look no more upon our dead wife and mothers fate we had some consolation for within our shrinking memory her continance looks upon us still, and her gentle words echo in our ears so in giving up a wife and mothers love we appreciate the sympathy of friends who so kindly and willingly help us to lest our burden as we solemnly go our way.
