My great-grandfather Elmer was the son of John Tillman Everhart and Theresa A. Harris. He married Ila Minnie Phillips on March 8, 1911.

His obituary was published in The Republican, May 14, 1970:

Elmer Everhart, 79, Lizton, died May 6 in his home. He was a retired farmer.

He is survived by his wife Ila, daughters Mrs. Leonard (Frances) English, Speedway; Mrs. Irene *****, Indianapolis; Mrs. Charles (Jessie) Harrison, Camby; a son, Clarence Everhart of Indianapolis; a brother Ralph Everhart of Jamestown; two sisters, Mrs. Austin Dunbar, Advance; and Mrs. Walter Otterman, Ladoga; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Jones and Matthews Mortuary Saturday, May 9, with Rev. Louis Crouch officiating. Burial was in the K of P Cemetery in Lizton.

(After retiring from farming, he worked as a grave digger at the cemetery in which he is buried.)
