Remains of Charles Floyd Laid to Rest at Floyd's Chapel
The remains of Charles Floyd, who died Thursday afternoon at 2:15 o'clock, were taken to Floyds Chapel Friday and laid to rest in the afternoon in the old family burying ground. Surviving him are his wife, who was at his bedside when the end came, and five children, several of whom arrived late Thursday evening from Houston. Mr. Floyd was a son of the late Lee Floyd, an old settler of this county. He was 49 years old.
Mr. Floyd was employed at the Southern Pacific railway shops at Houston, where he had resided for some time. His wife, who was formerly Miss Ona Callahan, a Gonzales county girl, will have the sincere sympathy of her many friends in her deep bereavement. Mr. Floyd formerly resided here, having a home in the northeastern part of town, and he had many warm friends and old associates in this section who will be grieved to learn of his passing. He was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. Many relatives and friends accompanied the remains out to the country.
