Rex M. Tudor
August 5, 1939 - February 3, 2009
Rex M. Tudor was born on August 5, 1939 in Shafter, California and passed away on February 3, 2009.
Rex was born and raised in Shafter with his older brother Max, and his younger sister Janet. He attended Richland School and graduated from Shafter High School in 1957. Upon graduation, Rex attended Bakersfield College before transferring to Fresno State University. Rex then entered the Army in 1961, serving in a hospital unit in both Washington and Texas. Upon discharge, Rex married Dorothy Weitz, whom he had known throughout his childhood in Shafter. The two moved to San Jose where Rex enrolled at San Jose State University to finish his education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1965.
Rex and Dorothy eventually moved back to Shafter, where he ran a successful accounting practice for 30 years. He was involved in the Shafter Kiwanis Club, serving as the club's President and was proud to be a Life Member of the organization. In addition, he also served on the Minter Field Airport Board of Directors for many years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing in Idaho, and hunting in South Dakota with his friends. Upon retirement in 2000, Rex enjoyed traveling, working on his 1939 Chevy street rod, meeting with his friends at Lupe's Bakery every morning for coffee and donuts, and driving dealership car exchanges for Holiday Ford, Richland Chevrolet and Jim Burke Ford.
Rex is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy Tudor; son, Dan and Teresa Tudor of Shafter; daughter, Debbie and Russ Davidson of Sheridan, Wyoming. Grandchildren, Shanna Davidson, Cambria Tudor, Kaley Tudor and Colt Tudor. Brother, Max and Barbara Tudor; Sister, Janet and Jack Stahl. Rex was a fixture in the community of Shafter for the past forty years, and was proud of his accounting work in assisting many local farms and businesses. He will be remembered as someone who always had a smile on his face, a joke to share, and willing to help his friends and family with anything they needed.
A memorial service, under the direction of Peters Funeral Home, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Congregational Church of Shafter, followed by a private burial at the Shafter Cemetery for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up the Rex Tudor Memorial Scholarship to honor students at Shafter High School who wish to pursue a career in accounting. We would ask that you show your love for Rex by making a donation to Shafter High School, 526 Mannel Ave, Shafter CA 93263. Please note that your donation is for the Rex Tudor Memorial Scholarship on your check.
