Norlan Glenn Adams, age 81, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2009 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was a longtime resident of Whiteland. He was born on August 6, 1927 in Vermillion County, Illinois to Nathan and Lillie B. (Twyman) Adams. He married Rosanne (Owens) Adams on July 9, 1947. She lovingly survives in Whiteland, Indiana. Other survivors include children, Jack (Sandy) Adams; Kathy (Andy) Martindale and Beth (Ron) Goeb, all of Whiteland; and Tracy (Dennis) Chambers of Springport, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Kim (Nathan) Waltz, Jennifer (Pat) Giddens, Karrie (Trent) Osmon, Hannah Goeb, Ashley, David and Roy Chambers, Emily, Kate and Luke Martindale; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Nathan and Lillie Adams; grandson, Nathan Adams and great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Garrett Giddens, five brothers and four sisters. He attended Whiteland Community High School. Norlan was a longtime farmer in Johnson County. He was a mechanic, enjoying rebuilding antique tractors. He was a member of Community Congregational Church in Franklin; the Johnson County Antique Machinery Association; Farm Bureau Co-Op and the Indiana Farmers Union. Softball was a family tradition for the Adams family. Norlan, his son Jack and his grandson Nathan all played on the same softball team. Norlan was sixty-three years of age at the time. He was an avid bowler, bowling on several leagues over the years. Rev. Art Stratton and Rev. Dan McLaughlin will conduct a service on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Community Congregational Church, 4592 N. Hurricane Road in Franklin. Friends may call on Monday, February 9, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Burial will be at Hurricane Cemetery in Franklin.
