Enlisted on 9/15/1861 as a 2nd Lieutenant.

Alonzo Doty enlisted in Mexican War about 10 November 1847 in Wooster, Wayne Co. Ohio. He served under Captain Cummings in Co. K, 11th Reg. of New York Inf. Vols K, He was discharged about 20 September 1848 at Fort Hamilton New York.

"Orenzo M. Doty enlisted on the 31st Dec., 1847 and was assigned to Co. K, 11th regiment ...
Born in Essex, New Jersey, age 21, by occupation a farmer, black eyes, black hair, dark complexion, 5 feet 7 inches high.
Present for duty with ;.. in Mexico. Roll of Aug. 17/48, reports him. Present mustered out with ... at Fort Hamilton on that date, a private. Name ... on rolls as Alonzo Doty."
Alonzo was commissioned about the 15th of March 1862 in Co. B of the 30th Reg. Ind. Vol. commanded by Col. Dodge and was honorably discharged at Huntsville Ala. on the 17th day of July 1863

On 9/24/1861 he was commissioned into "B" Co. 30th Indiana Infantry. He was in the battle of Shiloh and was wounded in the leg and abdomen, was partially deafened and also became ill with dysentery (according to pension records). He received pensions for both Mexican and Civil War service.

He Resigned on 7/17/1862.

Mother: Sally Doty (4th great granddaughter of Edward Doty {Mayflower passanger and signator of the Mayflower Compact} and Faith Clarke.) Born abt 1810 New Providence, New Jersey. Date and location of death unknown. Married Cornelius Brown Titus in Bergen, New Jersey 2 October 1828.
