Dr. Bliss graduated from Rush Medical College, Chicago, IL on 21 January 1863. He was a surgeon in the U. S. Army of the Potomac from 16 August 1863 until 15 April 1864, then worked at the Lincoln Hospital, Washington; Georgetown San. Hospital and Finley Hospital until 30 July 1865. He died at New Rochelle, NY. He was the only son of Allen and Almira Brainard Bliss.
