Robert was born to migrant workers, Lee and Ella Yandell, in Jay, Okla., on Dec. 8, 1932.

The family moved to California and later, to Vanport, Oregon during World War II to work in the shipyards. They later settled in New Plymouth, Idaho where Bob attended high school and met and married Helen Hall in 1950.

He moved to Portland, Oregon in 1951 where he owned and operated the Shell station at 122nd and SE Stark. After parting ways with Helen, Bob married Irene Clark in 1963. He worked for Combined Insurance for 10 years before taking employment with SAIF, retiring in 1994. Bob moved to Keizer in 1964 and later to Silverton in 1969.

An avid golfer, he had the pleasure of golfing in Scotland and at Pebble Beach. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, reading and woodworking and was a very active mmber of Silverton United Methodist Church where he operated the soundboard.

Bob is survived by his wife, Irene, of Silverton; children, Robert Yandell of Portland, Carolyn Yandell of boring, Jay (Sandy) Yandell of Sandy, Steve (Shirley) Yandell of Sandy, Jeff (Gena) Clark of Aloha, and Dan (Carol) Clark of Salem; sister, Lorraine Smart of New Plymouth, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Chuck Yandell in 2000.

A funeral service was held at Silverton First United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7. Interment will be at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland, OR.
