Rick A. Brunner, age 41, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at his home in Mazomanie. He was born in Madison on July 12, 1967, the son of Edward and Lois (Barsness) Brunner. Rick grew up in the Town of Vermont on a dairy farm and graduated from Wisconsin Heights High School in 1985. His greatest joy was spending time with his son, Markus. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, roaming the hills of Vermont on his ATV, the History Channel and the Packers. Rick was employed as a security assistant at Madison East High School for 11 years, where he enjoyed working with the youth. Rick is survived by his son, Markus of Madison; his mother, Lois Brunner of Cross Plains; 4 sisters, Judy (Chuck) Amble, Rita (Ric) Henn and Cheryl Busch, all of Mazomanie, and Debbie (Steve) Pierick of Marshall; 3 brothers, Dan Brunner of Burlington, Gordy (Ashley) Brunner of Black Earth, and Randy (Linda) Brunner of Blue Mounds; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward in 2003, and a brother, David in 1971. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BARNABAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Mazomanie, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 with Father Kevin Dooley officiating. Burial will follow in St. Barnabas Cemetery. Friends may call at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Highway 14 West, Mazomanie, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, on February 9, 2009 and also on Tuesday after 10:oo a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred for Markus Brunner.
