Drafted into US Army, Feb 5, 2942, Fort Custer (Battle Creek), Michigan and discharged at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, Nov 26, 1945.

In summer of 1943 stationed at Camp Penedale, Fresno, CA, as an orderly room clerk; later moved to the headquarters 929 Signal Battalion as a Personnel Sgt in charge of the enlisted men's records and making out the payroll for both enlisted and officers.

Left for overseas duty from Seattle, Washington Nov 15, 1943. Arrived Milne Bay, New Guinea Dec 15, 1943. Campaigned through New Guinea into Hollendia, New Guinea. Moved to the Island of Bisk then to Owi and then back to Hollandia for recuperation and replacement of enlisted men. From there on the campaign of the Philipines, Leyte & Luzon, then moved into Okinawa and was preparing for the invasion of Japan proper.

After the atomic bomb was dropped ending the war, ended up in Korea as occupation troops. Returned to the US, Nov 15, 1945 Seattle, Washington. Discharged at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, Nov 26, 1945.
