He was known to his family and friends by "Ted" died Monday, January 5, 2009, from heart failure, just two weeks after celebrating his 70th birthday.
Ted Lechowicz, a lifelong resident of the Chicago's Northwest side was a loving husband to Suzanne (nee Keiler) for 44 years, a devoted father to his son, Edward (Tracy Shine) and his daughter, Laura (Jason Felicione) and an adoring Grandfather/Papa to his four grandchildren, Ariel and Ryan Lechowicz and Alex and Bobby Felicione.
Ted Lechowicz devoted his life to public service and helping others. He served in the Illinois House of Representatives, Illinois State Senate, Cook County Board of Commissioners and was the Democratic Committeemen of Chicago's 30th Ward for more than 25 years. A career in public service spanning over 30 years.
Ted Lechowicz supported access to quality health care regardless of a person's ability to pay and was a strong voice for the Polish community as well as other ethnic communities, always fighting for his constituents' rights and needs. Ted Lechowicz's commitment to public service, loyalty and strong word led to significant accomplishments and lifelong friendships that crossed party lines.
