Leonard came to Oklahoma when he was 14 years old. He lived at Tipton, Frederick and Duncan before moving to Seminole in 1929. He was married at the age of 25 at Waurika to Alma. Mr. Franklin worked at several cleaning establishments in Seminole before joining Hammons Men's Store as a tailor. He worked at that store 30 years, taking two years out to serve in the U. S. Navy Seabees during World War II. Their three children honored them with a champagne breakfast on the occasion of their 50th anniversary.
A tribute to the couple was as follows: "These two very dear people have quietly endured heartaches, trials and tribulations too numerous to mention and have still found time to provide all the love and affection that their children and grandchildren could ever have hoped for."
On June 20, 1962 at the age of 65, he retired and operated Frank's Tailoring Shop for four years. He died of cancer on 6 January 1973.
His military marker is in Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.
