George Robert Porter, aged 56 years, died at his home ten miles northwest of the city Sunday, April 6, 1903 of pneumonia. He was buried at the Keirsey graveyard six miles northwest of Sherman, Rev. W.B. Herndon officiated. Mr. Porter was a member of the Methodist Church and was liked by his neighbors, for the funeral cortage was nearly a mile long. His wife died eight years ago, leaving ten children to his care, several of whom are now grown. He was survived by five sons, Pleasant M. Porter of Greer County, OK; James R.; William; Charlie H.; and George Ed, all of the home; five daughters, Della; Minnie; Martha Elizabeth; Lillie and Lottie Emily all of the home.
