David L. Abresch, 70, of 2187 St. John Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Resurrection Catholic Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a parish wake service at 7 p.m.
He was born on Jan. 16, 1939, in Dubuque, son of George and Iva (Cook) Abresch. He married Kay Vorwald on Aug. 4, 1962, in Dubuque.
He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Kay Abresch, of Dubuque; two children, Michael (Ilda) Abresch, of Buda, Texas, and Eric Abresch, of Rosenberg, Texas; three grandchildren, Michael, David and Jacob Abresch; three step-grandchildren, Jessica, Eric, and Matthew; six siblings, Leroy (Edna), Larry (Rose), Daniel (Patricia), Thomas (Ruth) and George (Sharon) Abresch, all of Dubuque, and Jody (Debob) Singletary, of Arizona; four stepsiblings, Diana (Donald) Clark, of Arizona, Sue (Kevin) Mills, of Dubuque, Missy (Hubbard) Lee Jr., of Arizona, and Steve (Sandy) Blocklinger, of Dubuque; a brother-in-law, Fred Cady, of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Abresch; a brother, Michael Abresch; and three sisters, Marian Abresch, Clara and her husband, Eldon Klein and Judy Cady.
