James Edgar Boyd, Sr. married Frances Janelle Rasberry on February 9, 1947 in the East End Methodist Church in Meridian, Lauderdale Co., MS.

He served in the U. S. Army in WWII. He was employed with both the Gulf Mobile and Ohio RR and the Illinois Central RR as Railroad Flagman and Conductor until his retirement in 1979. He was on the grounds committee at Central United Methodist Church in Meridian. James was known for his green thumb and received many awards for his landscaping and the beautiful flowers he grew. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
