Brownsville.--Funeral services for George K. Polls Roberts, 77 of 101 St. Francis Street, N.W., pioneer of Oklahoma Indian Territory days, were held Saturday afternoon at the Darling Funeral Home here.
The services were conducted by the Rev. M.B. Babbit, pastor of the Assembly of God church, with interment following in City cemetery. He had died here Friday at 6:55 p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Roberts had celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary here May 23. Living descendants include 10 children, 36 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Mr. Roberts was born December 6, 1861, in Vernon county, Missouri, less than a mile from where his father, a Yankee sholdier [soldier] was fighting a Civil War Battle.
A pioneer of the Oklahoma and Kansas territory days, and a covered wagon freight hauler, he often used to camp with the Indians.
Surviving besides his widow, are the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Arvilla Roberts, Cedar Vale, Kans.; A.C. Roberts, Elk City, Kas.; Mrs. Iva Losey, Claremore, Okla.; Mrs. Sadie Hoyle, Arkansas City, Kans.; Mrs. Ester Bowman, Gore, Okla.
Also, Mrs. Gladys Buther, Mrs. Marie Brigance, Cushing, Oklahoma; Mrs. Byrel Price, Sallisaw, Okla.; George N. Roberts and William Shelby Roberts, Brownsville.
He had been in failing health since February.--Clipped.
