Thomas Vance - 1941-2009

Thomas Wetzel Vance, 67, of Catlettsburg, passed away Sunday afternoon, Feb. 8, 2009, at his home.

Mr. Vance was a son of the late Russell and Margaret McSweeney Vance, born Nov. 18, 1941, in Wayne, W.Va.

Surviving is his loving wife of 44 years, Margaret Bellamy Vance.

Thomas was a graduate of Thomas R. Brown High School, served honorably with the United States Air Force in Germany, a retired operator for Tennessee Gas Pipeline and member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed mechanic work, restoring old equipment, and helping family and friends.

Thomas and Margaret's home was blessed with three children, Thomas Robert Vance and Paula VanHoose, both of Ashland, and William Jason Vance of Catlettsburg. Also surviving are three sisters, Iva Elliott and her husband, Paul, and Carolyn Boggs and her husband, Harold, all of Catlettsburg, and Janice Compston of Ashland.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Buchanan Chapel Cemetery in Zelda, Ky. The Rev. Frank Wallace will be officiating the committal.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg.
