Virginia Lucille Adkins Wright, 79, of 339 Mount Hermon Church Road, Bassett, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.
Born Jan. 31, 1923, in Henry County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Samuel Adkins and the late Mary Lee Ingram Adkins. Her husband was the late John Harvey Wright.
After working for Bassett-Walker for 17 years, she retired from Tultex with seven years of service. She had been a member of Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren for more than 60 years.
Surviving are one daughter, Judith Wright Dillon of Bassett; one son, James Monroe Wright of Bassett; four sisters, Francis Adkins Mason of Bassett, Inez Adkins Via of Fieldale, Nancy Adkins Wyatt of Collinsville and Mary Jane Adkins Hall of Fieldale; one brother, James Wendell Adkins of Fieldale; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Norris Funeral Services chapel, with the Rev. Barry Sink officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Norris Funeral Services from 7-8:30 p.m. today, and other times at the home of her daughter, Judy Dillon, 373 Mount Hermon Church Road.
