He married Amanda E. Thorp. Amanda was born about 1813 in Connecticut, the daughter of Beers and Abigail (Hoyt) Thorp. They had the following known children:
1. Sarah Abbie Barnum (1839-?)
2. Lucy Elizabeth (Barnum) Hall (1845-1930)
Miles died May 25, 1873, in Connecticut. Amanda died February 17, 1894 in Connecticut.
