Helen E. Shaffer
HANOVER - Helen E. (Cramer) Shaffer, 87, formerly of Glen Rock and Dallastown, and lived at Homewood at Plum Creek, Hanover since 1999, died Sunday afternoon, February 8, 2009 at the home. She was the wife of the late Malden G. Shaffer.
A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m., Wednesday at Bethlehem Steltz Reformed Church Cemetery, 5890 Steltz Road, Glen Rock. Following the graveside service, a celebration of Helen's life will be held at 11 am Wednesday, at Homewood at Plum Creek Chapel, 425 Westminster Ave., Hanover, with pastor the Rev. Joel Hummel, Chaplain at Plum Creek, officiating. A time of fellowship and visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Plum Creek. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Shaffer was born on March 5, 1921 in Codorus Township, a daughter of the late William and Austie (Krebs) Cramer.
She was a Seamstress for over 20 years retiring in 1983 from Seven Valleys Garment Company. Helen was a member of Bethlehem Steltz Reformed Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Plum Creek Choir and was a graduate of the former Glenville Academy.
She leaves two sons, Mervin E. Shaffer and his wife Jackie of New Cumberland and Nevin C. Shaffer and his wife Susan of Dallastown; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister Beulah Forry, of Seven Valleys.
