President Dallas Board of Education in 1924. When Clinton P. Russell died, school was dismissed and ROTC students participated in the funeral. Subsequently, the school board renamed North Dallas High School as Clinton Russell High School. However, alumni of North Dallas appealed to the board to leave the name as North Dallas. Later an elementary school was named in his honor.
