Edna June Hilpert, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at the Lutheran Home.


She was born June 18, 1917, in Jackson, daughter of John Ralph and Edna Matilda Hoffmeister Maybery. She and Edwin Hilpert were married June 18, 1941, in Jackson. He died in 1993.


Hilpert was a charter member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the Elderberries, a choir member, and performed several other functions at the church. She taught high school at both Lutesville and Jennings, Mo., and also taught at Trinity Lutheran School.


Survivors include a daughter, Sally (Charles) Holt of Bernie, Mo.; a son, John (Pat) Hilpert of Cleveland, Miss.; a sister, Dorothy Elizabeth Shea of Little Rock, Ark.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.


Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. to service time Thursday at St. Andrew Church.


The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Mark Martin officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.


Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
