Funeral rites for George W. Shepard, 85, of 3900 Armour Avenue, Fort Smith, Arkansas was held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Ocker Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gilbert Pixley and the Rev. Rupert Pixley officiating. Burial was in Vaught Cemetery.

Mr. Shepard, who died Tuesday at a Fort Smith hospital, was a native of Mountainburg, Arkansas area, a member of the Baptist Church and was a retired oil field worker.

He is survived by two daughters, Pauline and Cleo; and a son R. E. all of Arkansas City, Kansas; four sisters, Evelyn of Van Buren, Hallie of O'Fallon, Missouri, Erma, of Valdalie, Illinois and Naomi of Des Plains, Illinois; a brother. H. R. of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
