Nettie Perryman Cole was born in Philadelphia, Neshoba County, MS, on September 29, 1892, to Walter Perryman and Mary Ella Donald Perryman.

In 1904 at the age of 12, she joined Poplar Springs Maptist Church in Philadelphia, MS.

On March 15, 1915, she married Calloway Franklin Cole, the son of John Cole and Sarah Houston Cole, and together they raised seven adopted children.

She was one of the founding teachers of Poplar Springs School, Treasurer of the PTA, and the Heroines of Jericho. At Poplar Springs Baptist Church, she was a member of the Pastor's Aide Committee and the Baptist Missionary Society. She also organized the Palace of Children where she served as Mother Mary for several years.

She died May 7, 1985, at the age of 92.

She was the Wife of Calloway Franklin Cole and the adopted mother of Ross Donald, Dorothy Brown, Mildred Davis, Mamie Riley Peeler, Mamie Moody, and Johnnie Ruth Cole Hackney.
