Harry "Hack" Ambrose, 94, of 1824 Center St., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Shenandoah on March 1, 1914, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mabel (Davison) Ambrose.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was married to the former Gertrude Moran, who preceded him in death.

He was co-owner of Ringtown Farm Equipment Co., Ringtown, until retirement.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Ashland.

He was a member of the American Legion Post in Ringtown, the Good Fellowship Club, Ashland, and the Ringtown Valley Hunting Camp.

Surviving are two grandsons; three sisters, Alma Fenstermacher of Florida, Jean Breisch of Florida, and Agnes Adams of Kulpmont; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Carolyn Ambrose of Allentown; several nieces and nephews, and a neighbor and caregiver, Ellie Rollenhagen of Ashland.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph P. Ambrose, in 1977; six brothers, Thomas, Ralph, John, James, Paul and Theodore, and two sisters, Shirley Ambrose and Mary Farringer.

Harry "Hack" Ambrose, 94, of 1824 Center St., Ashland. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Church, Ashland, with the Rev. John W. Bambrick officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fountain Springs. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, www,kullfuneral.com. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church, Ashland, or to the American Legion Post in Ringtown.
