Dorathy Geraldine Lack (Jerry) 1925 - 2009 Our dear Jerry passed from this life on February 7, 2009 at age 83. Jerry was born in 1925 in Smackover, Arkansas to parents, Will and Julia Garrett, who preceded her in death. Jerry moved to Bakersfield, California in 1941 with her parents. She met the love of her life, Elbert Lack who she called Al, in 1952. Jerry and Al married in 1953 in Bakersfield where they lived and loved for 55 years. During their marriage Jerry was employed as the bookkeeper for Vest Drug Store for 25 years before she retired in 1987. She was a great dancer and she and Al enjoyed dancing together at every opportunity. Jerry loved to travel in the motor home especially to the Oregon coast every summer. She has been a loving wife and mother and will be missed by her children Odis "Bim" Maynard and Stacy "Tammy" Launer. She has three grandchildren, Brandon Maynard, Brandi Manning and Alicia Launer, three great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Bim Maynard, Brandon Maynard, Tyler Maynard, Bill Garrett, Billy Garrett, Larry Ramos and Michael Launer. A viewing will be open to the public Thursday, February 12, from 5-8 p.m. at Hillcrest Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 13, in the chapel at Hillcrest Mortuary with a graveside service to follow. We will all miss you but we know that someday we will be with you again. We loved you so.
