Although the tombstone says she was born in 1840, the correct birth year would be 1844 or 1845. In the 1850 census she was a 6-year-old child (1844). In the 1900 census she said she was born in 1845. Discrepancies like this are common, especially when the marker is placed years after the death of the individual.
