Rebecca Ruth Meacham Hicks, 65, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Everette Meacham; and her brother, David Meacham. Mrs. Hicks worked for many years as a beautician. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Harlie L. Hicks; her daughters, Robin Stokes and husband, Kevin, and Sharon Reed and husband, Terry; grandsons, Jaysen Stokes and wife, Catherine, and Joshua Stokes, a granddaughter, Megan Stokes; her brother, James Meacham and wife, Goldie; sisters-in-law, Ginny Meacham, Mallie Dalton, Luria Warner, Eileen Phillips, Mary Mabry, Nancy Montgomery, Edna Spencer and Arlie Mabry; her brother-in-law, Marion Hicks; and her beloved dog, "Mac." Services will be held noon on Saturday, February 14, 2009, at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Ave. The Rev. Danny Whitlock will officiate. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2009. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.
