Born Feb. 4, 1955 in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Edwin Burke and Sara Gladys Carey Carey, and the husband of Diane Carey. He was a contractor in the construction industry and attended Pennington Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of Royston, include daughters, Ronda Dee Carey and Sara Marie Carey, both of Royston; brother, Brent Carey, Royston; sisters, Dawn Malcom and Lois Bowers, both of Royston, and Gail Harris, Dacula; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Feb. 10, 2009 at Pennington Chapel United Methodist Church, officiated by the Revs. Brian David, Allen Carmichael and Raymond Carr. Burial followed in Cary Memorial Gardens.
