Betty J. Blews, 82, of 200 Conkle Ave. died the night of Feb. 11, 2009, in Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 23, 1926, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Effie Putt Grossman.
She married Glenn F. Blews Sr. on June 10, 1952. He died in June 1986.
She was a Bell Telephone operator/supervisor. She was a 1945 graduate of New Castle High School. She enjoyed crocheting and reading. She was a Golden Member of First Alliance Church, belonging for more than 50 years.
Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Marilyn Tacconi of Scottdale, Pa., Patty and Michael Vitale of New Castle, Ruth E. Williams of Goldsboro, N.C., and Hilda L. and Jeff Smith of Virginia Beach, Va.; a foster daughter, Billie Jo Williams of New Castle; two sons, Glenn F. Blews Jr. and David P. Blews, both of New Castle; and eight grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Grossman, and a half sister, Helen McCann.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road.A service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. The Rev.
