James "Jimbo" Allen Franklin was born to John Max Franklin and Gladys (Hawkins) Franklin in the small and beautiful rural community of Tusquittee, nestled in Clay County, North Carolina, near Hayesville. Jimbo was a wonderful Husband to his wife Linda (Land) Franklin, who joined with Jimbo in his life on August 8, 1964. Jimbo was a nurturing Father to his four children (three sons and one daughter), a Grandfather to five, and a Brother to Gene and Christine. Jimbo, a graduate of Hayesville High School, Class of 1962, was a Friend to those who knew him and loved him. Jimbo was a true southern gentleman. His memory will live in our hearts forever and stir warm memories of both our youth and our friendship with each remembrance.

Jimbo had requested his body be donated to research through the University of Alabama. His wishes were honored. No grave site nor arrangements will be made. To Jimbo, you must apply the Dr. Seuss quote, ""Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.".". Jimbo had said if his body could help one child, his life would mean something. His attitude, his gentle nature, and his willingness to give is a testament to the fine mountain stock from which he came.
