C.E. STRADLEY ,83,Retired Farmer Passes Tuesday
Funeral services were held at 1;00 p.m. today, Thursday, June 23 for Charles E. Stradley, 83, a retired farmer who had lived in Garfield County for 45 years.
Rev. Jack C. Hawthorne of the Nazarene Church conducted the services that were held from the Richardson Funeral Home. Interment was in the City Cemetery.
Stradley was born in Peoria, Illinois, December 4, 1871 the son , of John and Amy Stradley, He was married to Mary AGoracke on December 29, 1891 inPhillips , Kansas and to this union were born 10 children two of them passing in infancy. In 1910 Stradley moved his family to Garfield county where he engaged in farming. His health began to fail in 1944 and he and his wife sold the farm and moved to Pomeroy. Mrs. Stradley passed away August 7, 1949. Stradley continued to live at the home at high Street until last May when he moved to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Iva Hender where he passed away on June 21.
Surviving are three sons and five daughters, Everett,Milton-Freewater, oregon; Levi, Pomeroy;Art,Portland,Oregon; Sylvia Morgan and Iva Hender, Pomeroy; Leona Keller, Deer Park; Eva Morris and Grace King ,Spokane. There are also 27 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were the deceased man's grandsons, Redrick Stradley, Marvin Stradley, Walter, Claude Morgan, Howard Stradley, Don Stradley, and Alfred Hender.
