He is working at the Tie Plant in Carbondale.

 

He is 5'9", 144 pounds, with red hair and gray eyes.

 

His wife, Mrs. Nina Margaret Davis, will always know his address.

Albert J. "Red" Davis of Mount Vernon and formerly of Cambria and Carbondale, died at age 85 on Saturday, February 7, 2004, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mount Vernon.

 

He was born in Gorham on October 11, 1918, a son of Hiram and Minnie McClure Davis.

 

He married Nina Marguerite Derickson in 1939, and she preceded him in death in 1982. In 1986 he married Evelyn Shelton and she survives.

 

He is survived by his wife Evelyn; three sons, Gary of Belleville, Glen of South Roxanna and Kenneth of Belleville; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Nora Bryant and Frieda Strol [Stroh]; and three brothers, Gene, Don and Lou Davis.

 

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Willie Davis, and two sisters, Dora Scrol [Scholes] and Katherine Parsley.

 

Mr. Davis had retired from the Koppers Plant after working there for more than 38 years.

 

He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin.

 

He was a U. S. Army Veteran, serving two years during World War II, and was a member of the Herrin American Legion for 20 years.
