Funeral service for Dr. Watie Alberty, 67, was held August i in Lewis Colonial Mortuary at San Diego, Calif. Cremation followed the service, with interment in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. He died August 5th in a San Diego hospital. Dr. Alberty, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Alberty, was born and reared int he Westville community where he lived until he entered as a student in the University of Kansas, where he graduated from the School of Medicine. He was a heart specialist, retiring at San Diego in 1958 after more than 40 years of practice. During World War I he served with the U.S. Army Medical Corps. in Scotland and during World II at the Naval Hospital at San Diego. Dr. Alberty entered practice as a general practitioner and became a heart specialist in later years. From 1922 to 1955, he was on the staff at Mercy Hospital in San Diego. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge; the University Club; San Diego Medical Society and American Medical Association. Survivors include his wife Edna of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Broaded of San Diego; a son, Watie Jr., of La Mesa, Calif; a brother and a sister. Mrs. W.W. Alberty and Mrs. George Gibson of Westville are cousins.Found in Stilwell Democrat Journal 19 August 1960
