Esta Pearl Sefried, 91, of Carmi, died Saturday, November 1, 2008, at the Wabash Christian Retirement Center.
She was born June 18, 1917, in Carmi, the daughter of Fred and Catherine (Burkhardt)
Sefried. She worked at the Garment Factory for twenty-seven years and the Carmi Times. Esta remained at home with her parents until they passed away. She and her sister, Eileen Englebright, lived together until Eileen’s death in 2007. Esta lived at Wabash Christian Retirement Center until her death.
She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Ms. Sefried is survived by one nephew, Al Sefried, of California; and dear friends and caregivers, Vertis Englebright and Joyce Garner, both of Carmi.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Stendeback Family Funeral Home/Kittinger-Fair in Carmi. Reverend Steven Friese will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Maple Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church General Fund or to the Phoenix foundation.
