Obituary for Mrs. Patrick O'Neill (Amelia nee: Hartnett)
Downeyville, June 15 –(Staff Correspondence) – St. Luke's church was filled with sorrowing relatives friends and acquaintances Wednesday morning to pay a last tribute to the late Mrs. Patrick O'Neill, whose death took place Monday evening after an illness of great length.
The late Mrs. O'Neill, whose maiden name was Amelia Hartnett, was born seventy-five years ago in Verulam Township, where she lived until her marriage to Patrick O'Neill. Since then she has lived near Omemee.
Although there were visible signs of failing heath for some time, it was not until recently that Mrs. O'Neill's illness became serious, and being convinced of the alarming nature of her illness, prepared earnestly and fervently for her demise.
Notwithstanding the constant demands of a family, and of late years being stricken with a malady, her heart beat in sympathy for the trials and sufferings of others; she was always willing to perform innumerable acts of charity wherever sickness, sorrow or want prevailed.
She is survived by her sorrowing husband, Patrick O'Neill, one daughter, Mrs. Albert Carroll, and four sons, Morgan, Albert, William and Stanley, a sister, Mrs. Sarah Callahan, Minnesota, and a brother Patrick, Richland Centre, Wisconson, also twelve grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Stafford Powers (Evelyn) predeceased her by several years.
Requiem Mass was sung by Rev. Father McCarney, who also preached the funeral sermon and read the prayers at the burial.
Many spiritual tributes and massages of sympathy were received by the sorrowing husband and family.
