Married to G. Gaylord Double for 57 years. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2006.
She worked for seven years as a certified nursing assistant at Golden Hill Nursing Home. She was a telephone operator for three years at Bell Telephone in New Castle. She was a loving homemaker for her husband, children and grandchildren. She was Protestant and belonged to the Pulaski Presbyterian Church. She graduated in 1942 from New Castle High School.She was a member of AARP and a senior center member. She loved her computer and enjoyed surfing the Web. She was a contributing writer to the New Wilmington Globe and a full-time mom and grandmother to her family.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-laws, John G. and Lynn Double of Colorado Springs and David E. and Roberta Double of Temple, N.H.; one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth E. and Linda Fye of New Castle; one sister, Betty M. Grandey of New Castle; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents and husband, G. Gaylord Double.
Visitation for family and friends will take place from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 16, at the Noga Funeral Home, 1142 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday for Pulaski Presbyterian Church, where a funeral service will be celebrated at 1 p.m. The Rev. Robert Hibshman will officiate.
