FARMER, Gladys Elizabeth White, 95, passed away February 21, 2016, at Brandermill Woods. She was born September 14, 1920 in Lynchburg, Va., to the late Rose Keith White and Gordon Henry White. She was predeceased by her husband, Earl Franklin Farmer; son, Eugene Farmer; grandson, Chip Winslow; sister, Clarice White; and brothers, Gordon Jr., Howard and Dice White.


She is survived by her daughter, Ella Mae Winslow and husband, Marvin Winslow, of Suffolk; daughter-in-law, Gwynn Farmer of Richmond; grandchildren, Elizabeth Russell and husband, James Russell Jr., of Suffolk, Christopher, Brian and Matthew Farmer, all of Richmond; great-grandchildren, Alexandria and James Russell III of Suffolk, Kristy and Justin Farmer of Richmond; great-great-grandchildren, Jayson, Joshua and Miley Farmer, all of Richmond; brother, Robert White and Octavia Sumpter of Lynchburg.


Mrs. Farmer was a nurse at McGuire VA Medical Center for many years. She was a member of Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church and Meadowbrook Country Club. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed painting pictures from memories of her childhood growing up on her family's farm in Lynchburg.


A funeral ceremony will be held 12 noon Tuesday (today) at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd. Interment will be private.


The family gratefully acknowledges the wonderful care by the staff at Brandermill Woods. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association, Southeastern Virginia Chapter, 6350 Center Dr., Suite 102, Norfolk, Va. 23502.
